G Cloud 12 - well done CCS and Digital Marketplace

G Cloud 12 - well done CCS and Digital Marketplace I’m Alexander Keenes. I was recently given the task of applying to G Cloud 12. A stressful prospect, having never done anything like this before. I wanted to share my views.

Applying to G Cloud - simple and hassle free
Applying to G Cloud 12 was daunting. I had never applied to a public sector framework agreement before, let alone a Crown Commercial Service (CCS) one. And to be honest, I was a bit apprehensive about how tedious this was going to be. I feared I would need to jump through lots of hoops and complete lots of paperwork.

However, I found the experience very simple. From first registering on the Digital Marketplace to inviting colleagues from the wider business to contribute to the application. I enjoyed the simplicity of completing the plain language declarations and the ease of being able to save our work as we went along. Even submitting our response was easy - no printing and posting. It was a great experience.

I’m thrilled CURSHAW has a framework agreement place - people can see what we do and how we do it in one uniformed space!

Applause
People had told me that government procurement is hard work, painful in fact. But I think the procurement leads at the CCS have got this right - sending applause and thanks to you all.

Next steps

As one of CURSHAW’s newest consultants I’m excited to help central government departments, local authorities, charities, universities and the wider public sector tackle the often complex area of procuring Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT). In fact, I want to go a few steps further:

1. I want to help commercial and digital teams manage their digital contracts and help procurement professionals learn more about the benefits (and pitfalls) of managing suppliers who use agile ways of working. This is a critical area that is vital in the procurement profession.

2. I also want to help procurement and finance teams learn more about their DDaT spend. We have been working with The Classification Guru on creating the world's first taxonomy for DDaT. This means we can help teams understand where they’ve spent their money and trend this spend for future DDaT commercial strategies and procurement pipelines.
