Formation of The Association of Infrastructure Investors in Public Private Partnerships

Several major international infrastructure investors who have invested in UK infrastructure assets under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model have formed The Association of Infrastructure Investors in Public Private Partnerships (AIIP). The members include InfraRed Capital Partners Limited, Dalmore Capital Limited, Equitix Investment Management Limited and Semperian PPP Investment Partners Group Limited. The AIIP aims to provide a positive and co-ordinated voice for engagement on specific industry issues with key stakeholders including the UK Government, the Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) and sponsoring government departments.

The AIIP has been formed to:

  • Discuss and share expertise on the best approaches to prioritising, planning, maintaining, operating, and handing back infrastructure projects under the PPP model, including the UK Government’s Private Finance Initiative (PFI).

  • Advocate for the continuous improvement of standards across the UK PFI industry, by working together with relevant public sector bodies and key supply chain partners to develop and implement practices and initiatives that promote collaboration, innovation and improved performance in the infrastructure sector.

  • Provide a forum through which robust forward-looking solutions and actions can be efficiently and effectively developed and promoted, based on the commercial and contracting principles of PPP

The AIIP will be working with DLA Piper UK LLP and CURSHAW to support its activities.

Alison Fagan, Partner at DLA Piper UK LLP, said: “We will support the AIIP with its pursuit of solutions to challenges faced in the PPP/PFI landscape. We hope our role, alongside CURSHAW, will allow it to maximise on the benefits presented by public and private sector collaboration on pertinent issues faced by all stakeholders operating in the UK infrastructure space.”

Max Curzon-Hope, Founding Partner at CURSHAW, stated: “We look forward to working with the AIIP and DLA Piper UK LLP to support the opportunities that will be created by these investors working together as a group to address issues relevant to UK infrastructure which are of common interest with the public sector.”
